International Exposure for NMT at Autism One Conference

In 2008 and 2009 I was one of the participants in the NMT Autism Study. Dr. Bob Weiner, the Study Chair, presented the findings at the Autism One Conference in Chicago. Children who participated in the NMT autism study demonstrated statistically significant improvement in all areas of functioning as measured by the Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC), the Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC) and the Pervasive Developmental Disorder Behavior Inventory (PDDBI).  Global function improved – maladaptive behaviors decreased and adaptive behaviors increased.  These results occurred in just 12 sessions of NMT, twice a week for 6 weeks. Publication is planned in one of the autism journals.

Dear all,

NMT has now had its first exposure at a large international conference.  This past Sunday, I presented results from our NMT autism study at the Autism One Conference in Chicago, Illinois.  The presentation was very similar to the talk I gave at the 2008 NMT Symposium, with some additional test data added.  I also included some video clips from the research study.

The talk was well attended by both parents and practitioners, even though the time slot I had competed with an all day THRiiiVe presentation by Dr. Joseph Mercola and others.

We had an exhibitor booth where we passed out promos for my talk along with several hundred of the new NMT brochures.  My wife Doris helped me at the exhibitor table, and Dr. Rindie Coker was able to help at the table on one of the days of the conference.  Rindie received many inquires from local parents who were interested in their children getting NMT.

We also had many inquiries from practitioners who were interested in adding NMT to their practices.

Many of you may be receiving inquiries in the days and weeks ahead from parents who attended the Autism One conference once word starts to get out in the autism community.

Bob Weiner, Ph.D.
