Death of U.S. Healthcare
When all of America’s top health insurers and providers met at the White House this week and pledged to save $2 trillion over the next decade in health costs, they were pledging to sabotage our medical care. The blunt truth, which everybody agreed to keep quiet, is that the only way to reduce these costs is to ration healthcare, thereby destroying our system.

The problem with a lot of these arguments is that I’m not aware of any evidence that suggests our current system is improving the health of the nation at all. The last I looked we’re 33rd among the top 50 industrialized countries in longevity and a number of other population health comparisons. Our obesity, diabetic and other “lifestyle” diseases are soaring along with with the costs of health care. Other countries, especially those that do ration health care towards the end of life seem to be doing better … or at least their populations are.
And to suggest we don’t ration health care now is putting one’s head in the sand. We probably do more rationing of health care by simply denying health care coverage to more people than practically any industrialized country.
There’s general agreement that the current system is unsustainable and there’s plenty of blame to go around: administrators; physician specialists that earn 6-8 times what primary care physicians do; the method of paying for procedures rather than cognitive care; the lack of focus on preventive care and the exorbitant amount of resources we dedicate to dying. It’s so irrational and yet every one of us is riding the wave we’re on until it crashes because no one has figured how to transition from an irrational system of providing disease care to one that provides healthcare.
Personally I think we physicians and healthcare are the next big bubble getting ready to burst. It’s going to be a wild ride but my guess is that this will begin to happen in the next 2-3 years. Hang on to your hat!

This is why it is more important for the people of this nation to improve their health by steering away from processed food, get more exercise eliminate stress and use natural supplementation.
